ONE HIT WONDER



The dream academy had a huge hit with this song way back in 1985 and has been used in a number of dance music tunes since.I believe they must have thought that this Would break them into the mainstream but nothing really happened for them.Its a real shame as this song goes to show how talented they were.Here is the full 12inch import mix which is sort of an acapella version,get it into abelton and see what you can achieve when its sitting on some dirty beats.This apparently is a bit rare so treat your self's on me....enjoy


FRESH FOUR

Way back in 1989 is when this monster of a track came out.Coming with that Bristol sound years before the groups like massive attack and portishead were dominting our ears.This is the instrumental version of Wishing on a star which then featured a young dj krust who went on to blow up Bristol and the world with his drum and bass outfit and being roni sizes right hand man.Light up a fat one and take ya mind back to 89....


I love the rapper nas,his first album for me was just pure hip hop,the beats by DJ premier,nas had his style of rapping locked down it was a great time for hip hop.Fast forward several years and along came Portishead and when their first album dropped it was similar to when illmatic dropped,the dirtiness of those beats,the haunting voice of Beth gibbons and the choice of samples it again was a great time for music,well what happen when you put the 2 together,must have been what dangermouse thought when he mashed portishead with nas
