ONE HIT WONDER

The dream academy had a huge hit with this song way back in 1985 and has been used in a number of dance music tunes since.I believe they must have thought that this Would break them into the mainstream but nothing really happened for them. Its a real shame as this song goes to show how talented they were. Here is the full 12inch import mix which is sort of an acapella version, get it into abelton and see what you can achieve when its sitting on some dirty beats. This apparently is a bit rare so treat your self's on me....enjoy

FRESH FOUR

Way back in 1989 is when this monster of a track came out.Coming with that Bristol sound years before the groups like massive attack and portishead were dominting our ears. This is the instrumental version of Wishing on a star which then featured a young dj krust who went on to blow up Bristol and the world with his drum and bass outfit and being roni sizes right hand man.Light up a fat one and take ya mind back to 89....

I love the rapper nas,his first album for me was just pure hip hop,the beats by DJ premier, nas had his style of rapping locked down it was a great time for hip hop.Fast forward several years and along came Portishead and when their first album dropped it was similar to when illmatic dropped, the dirtiness of those beats, the haunting voice of Beth gibbons and the choice of samples it again was a great time for music, well what happen when you put the 2 together, must have been what dangermouse thought when he mashed portishead with nas

MISTER CEE

I loved the golden age of hip hop well doesn't everyone, every big players album had to have a tune dedicated to the DJ and rightly so.The track on offer here is Big Daddy Kanes DJ MISTER CEE,i like firstly how naive and simple sounding it is,especially as its around 18yrs old and i love the choice of records he cuts ranging from Dougie fresh, tears for fears, the jungle brothers, anyway you can decided for yourself by grabbing it here

LET IT HAPPEN

Aaaahhh the wonder of the net and how you can discover so much music, hopefully having the ability to turn you on too.Having heard the obvious vangelis stuff that being chariots of fire etc i was amazed to discover that he was in a band called Aphrodite's child with the Greek love god that is demis rousos and on discovering that Aphrodite's child were absolutely amazing i needed to obtain their catalogue. The tune that stands out for me is Let it happen which is a Balearic classic which has had a lovely make over by beatfanatic,so here is the lovely new remix.Sit back with a cup of tea and enjoy

Welcome

Welcome to filthy jukebox a place where you can expect the unexpected,i have a very varied taste in music and feel the need to share this amongst the masses.I hope you take the time to read the posts and tell your friends and feel free to email me with requests or music you also would like to share.....

now the boring intro bits over with lets get on with the music.

I have had a real hard time when it comes to John Cage,i have always had it in my mind that it was going to be some ambient noodling,4 hour noise or infact complete silence(which i think he has done)so when finally having the time to listen to something by Mr Cage i was really taken aback. The piece i want to share with you is taken from in a landscape and is just truly beautifull.

For a more in depth look at John Cages work visit
